If upgrading to 15 for the first time, you must prepare 10.6 user records by hand.
Note: If you created a GUEST user in 10.6, you will need to remove or rename this user. GUEST is reserved for iMIS operations in 15 and is used internally.
1. Create contact (customer) records for any staff members that don't exist.
2. Make User and Internet security records match for logins and passwords (see below).
Caution! Failing to prepare 10.6 records can result in damaged records that you must manually recreate.
In iMIS 15, all user records need corresponding contact records in Customers. A 10.6 user record cannot upgrade properly unless the user:
■ is defined in the User Passwords window, with a non-blank password
■ has a corresponding contact record with the same user ID and password defined in the Internet Security tab of the contact record
For example, a 10.6 user login JDOE has the row Users.UserID='JDOE'. The upgrade requires an iMIS record with a Name_security record attached to it with
■ Name_security.web_login = 'JDOE'
■ usermain.userid = 'JDOE'
To prepare 10.6 user records
1. Start iMIS 10 and log in as MANAGER.
2. From the iMIS menu bar, choose File > System Setup.
3. Click User Passwords.
4. For each user listed in the Current Users list, perform these steps.
□ From Customers, select Manage Customers.
□ Create a contact record for the user if one does not already exist.
□ Enter a valid e-mail address on the main Address tab.
Tip: Use this opportunity to ensure that all contact records contain an accurate email address, since users will need them to change their passwords.
□ In the details area, click the Internet Security tab.
□ In Login, enter the user ID from the User Passwords window.
□ In Password and Verify Password, enter the one from the User Passwords window.
